Sport. Best Gamers of Uzbekistan in san Francisco
After many monthly championship tournaments in over five towns the contests in the world of computer games was finally completed. This was the second championship of the country and for the first time the best players in Uzbekistan can be contestants of the world championship that will be held in San Francisco this year. As a matter of interest 67 participants from other countries except the national team of Uzbekistan will gather in this American town.
The contest World Cyber Games 2004 Uzbekistan Preliminary which is the same as the Championship of Uzbekistan is conducted in three stages which are Regional selection, National final and performance of the national team of Uzbekistan in the world final - Grand Final WGG 2004.
Totally 2300 gamers from the whole republic including 1350 from the capital took part in the competition and according to the regional selection results 72 finalists including 8 teams with five players were selected from 5 plays. The games that were chosen for the competition are very popular throughout the world and are War Craft 3, Star Craft, Half Unreal and Need for Speed. The only people who were disappointed were the admirers of the game FIFA play which is an analogy of football. All the citizens of Uzbekistan might take part in the competition except only very little gamers because of the standing order. Nevertheless this competition attracts more attention and interest of the younger people. The average age of the contestants was 17 however many finalists are much older 19 years old. Concerning some more statistical data it can be noted that the oldest contestant was 49 years old and the youngest one was only 3 years old but the most interesting event was that in the Fergana regional final where a father and son played against each other in a duel for the right of going through to the national final.
In contrast from other sports computer games have no age limits so it happens that millions of unlucky sportsmen do have the opportunity to try themselves in a "new type" of sport. By the way according to some humorists computer games will be included in the Olympic Games and given its official status. Although even now we can speak about the seriousness of the competition since the President of South Korea is the honorable president of the WGG committee. It is also worth noting that in contrast to other sports there is no sex discrimination so for example five female contestants from the total number took part in the second championship. Tashkent gamers have no real competition from regional participants since only one representative of Fergana was in number of finalists. But it is only the beginning so the organizers hope that competitions will increase with every coming year.
With this in mind the first steps have been already done with the committee having granted 5 modern computers to school #37. So who will go to San Francisco? These are the winners of the five afore-mentioned games: Georgiy Gorbenko, Sardor Mirahmedov, Vyacheslav Belov, lldar Camaev, and also of the "Prodigy" team which included Yakub Suleymanov, Andrey Li, Vladimir Sadikov, Sergey Prikuskov and Askar Engalichev. They will all for the first time represent our country in the world competition so we wish our fellow countrymen success to win in America.
