Hobby. The master of motorcycles from Kattakurgan

The life of a collector and restorer of old cars and motorcycles is difficult. However it is hard to give up: it sweeps away like circuit races. The amount of adrenaline in blood at the sight of an engine of the pre-war "Ardie" and the tires from the post-war "Irbit" is equal to what is pulsing in the biker's veins when he traverses Arizona on his "Harley".

Shuhrat Jumaev, the former motor-cycle racer and brother of the famous in the entire Republic racing motorist Sherzod Jumaev will tell us more than a dozen stories of how he found a "Mercedes" engine produced in 1948 in the God's forgotten Zarmitan, how he brought tires which are 70 years old from Moldova, creating a silent panic at the customs - his carriage in a leather bag seemed very strange. He mastered over ten professions in order to become a specialist in the chosen field, and is in correspondence with the like-minded people around the world.

All this would not have happened if he was not born in Samarkand. In the 70s of last century on the territory of the Soviet Union only Riga competed with Samarkand in the field of experts and restorers of auto- and motor-antiquity. Already at that time a club of antique cars and motorcycles existed and Shuhrat was lucky to be on the parade of rarity automobiles and motorcycles. His house turned into a museum. His collection consists of 20 ancient motorcycles and 4 refurbished automobiles, among which there is a "Bug" (produced in 1962) and the rarest car of the Samarkand Factory of Automobiles which was manufactured after the war by invalids and for invalids.

The refurbishment process starts with reading special literature, search of old skilled workmen which might know how this "iron" looked before, the correspondence with like-minded people. Then - the search for components. At leisure he creates funny sculptures from used oil filters and casts helmets for motorcycles in the form of sombreros or duppis (Uzbek skullcaps). Also there is a unique helmet - "kettle" among his works. Yes, a real kettle with a spout and cover, only it can be worn on the head. Children adore these helmets. Shuhrat encourages their curiosity. Who knows, maybe they will grow into his followers.
