People. A Love Story

They met in Ragu Bar by chance and got married in half a year. I would call them people of different epoques. He is an American, she is from Bukhara. He came to Tashkent to work and she - to study. The age difference is little according to contemporary measures. His and her friends unanimously repeat over and over again that they are made for each other. However an average statistical man would reiterate with asinine stubbornness that "something is wrong here". Our people do not believe in love at first sight and it is a pity. If they believed than these kind of stories would happen more often.

Yulya, where and how did you meet?
We first met in Ragu Bar. I came there to met my friend. I remember I was sitting at a table and thinking when will she come? And she still was not there. Then Herbert came up to me and we became acquainted. He came to RAGU with his friends and asked me to join them. I agreed as I liked him very much. It appeared to me at once that he is very nice and decent. Maybe someone will say that this not right but I felt that this is my fate.

Herbert, how did you notice Yulya? Can you call your acquaintance as love at first sight?
To be honest, before meeting Yulya, I never believed that this exists. When we met, that evening in RAGU, I understood that nevertheless miracles happen. Love at first sight exists. Yulya had a zest - and this is what attracted me to her. Then, when we started dating, I became so attached to her that I decided to propose. Yulya is a marvelous lady. She is honest and sympathetic and I really love being with her. I thank God that I came to Ragu that day and we met. Love for her fills my heart.

Yulya, what did you feel when you started dating Herbert?
We started seeing each other only in a month after our first encounter. Next morning Herbert left to Kuwait for business. We communicate via the Internet everyday. He came to Tashkent once again in November. We met in the Sheraton Hotel, he was staying there at that time. I was waiting for him in the hall but he was 5 minutes late. These 5 minutes seemed like eternity to me but when I saw him all the doubts and anxiety disappeared. I understood that I cannot be without him anymore. Herbert and I are two half of a single whole and we found each other and now nothing and no one can separate us. Some readers might say that all this is beautiful fairy tale and everything is different in real life but I am happy that this fairy tale came true in my life. I live in it until now and consider myself as the happiest woman in the world. Our happiness grew with the birth of our son.

How did your relationship develop after the wedding?
We has a honeymoon. Herbert really likes traveling and we went on a tour of Europe together, we were in Paris and this was a fairy tale for me. Everything is so beautiful there. We saw all the historical and cultural monuments. When I was studying in the institute, I saw everything on pictures in the lectures and dreamed to be there someday. It is hard to express my feelings when I saw the Eiffel Tower, the Arc of Triumph and the grandeur of these sights. I am very grateful to Herbert for his attention and care. Thanks to him I saw so many beautiful places and had so many happy and wonderful moments in life. A trip to America was one of these moments. I met his parents there. I was so worried if they would like me but they turned out to be very kind and friendly people which accepted me very well. They are so cheerful and look so young, probably because they are young in the soul. It was actually very nice to meet them.

Yulya, how do you spend your free time in Tashkent, where do you and Herbert go to rest?
We spend our free time very merrily. (Laughs). Most of all we like being in RAGU. This place joined our fates in one. This is why we enjoy coming there again and again. We have a peculiar tradition - we come to RAGU with our friends every Friday. I will tell you a secret, we met with Herbert on Friday. Herbert also likes visiting this bar because here he can socialize with many other foreigners living in Uzbekistan. They share their thoughts, their impressions. This bar has an atmosphere of warmth and comfort, an environment which disposes to socializing.

Now Yulya and Herbert are bringing up their son who is almost 2 years old. They speak mostly in English with each other.
